I wonder how we as a people have been able to send human beings to the moon but haven’t been able to find alternative sources of energy. It’s utter bullshit. I mean we send those Rovers to Mars to take pictures of rocks and look for ice and those things are driving around. How are they doing that. I don’t see any gas stations up there.  I mean, I know gas stations aren’t a sign of intelligent life, but if it means not sending billions of dollars to countries that hate us I’d be driven around by some nerd in Houston any day of the week.
And why don’t we take all of the money we spend on space exploration and spend it on alternative energy. I enjoy those pictures of black holes and exploding stars as much as anyone but the last time I checked the Orion Nebula didn’t think we were the Great Satan. Spending tax payer money on space exploration with all the problems we are facing is like building a pool in your back yard while the bank is foreclosing on your house.
So screw Mars and OPEC at the same time. Go Solar, Not Lunar.

From the story I’m working on this week… I was surprised to learn these numbers. But Canadian animosity is growing!
The U.S. already produces between 40 and 45 percent of the oil we use domestically, and we use 25 percent of the total world supply. To supplement that, in 2007 we imported an average of 1.9 million barrels per day from Canada (our largest foreign source), 1.5 million from Mexico, and 1.4 million from Saudi Arabia.
I think their plan is to find another place to go once we’ve wasted all our resources here - either it’s overpopulation, or nuclear holocaust. And after that, it’s the survival of the smartypants a.k.a. the only ones who know how to get off the planet & drive one of those damn shuttle thingy’s approximately 48,740,000 miles to the next planet……. and not get lost……….
